I wonder if any of you know this song. It's old....1970 I think. A Fleetwood Mac song. It's fast becoming the #1 song played on my iPod. It's a pretty sad song.....but it's sooo beautiful. Stevie Nicks has a young voice in the original recording and she just sings it so well. But I guess she would....since it's a song about her. She wrote this song after her breakup with Lindsey Buckingham, the band's guitarist and her long time boyfriend. She wanted to make sure he would never forget about her. Stuff like that just...I don't know....just strikes a cord within me.
You can hear a clip of it at Amazon.com. Scroll down to "Listen to Samples". It's track 8 on disk 1.
Here are the lyrics:
Silver Springs
You could be my silver spring
Blue-green...colors flashin'
I would be your only dream
Your shinin' autumn....ocean crashing
And did you say she was pretty?
And did you say that she loves you?
Baby I don't wanna know....
I'll begin not to love you...
Turn around, see me runnin'
I'll say I loved you years ago...
Tell myself you never loved me....no......
And did you say she was pretty?
And did you say that she loves you?
Baby, I don't wanna know....oh no.....
And can you tell me...was it worth it?
Really, I don't wanna know...
Time cast a spell on you...but you won't forget me
I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me
Time cast a spell on you...but you won't forget me...
I know I could've loved you, but you would not let me...
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you...
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you...
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you...
Was I just a fool?
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you...
Was I just a fool?
I'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you...
Give me just a chance
You'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you...
You could be my silver springs...
My blue green colors flashin'...

Wow....my first "real" girlfriend loved that tune. "Rumors" was the Fleetwood Mac cassette that I wore out twice !...Second Hand News, Dreams, Don't Stop, Go Your Own Way, The Chain, You Make Loving Fun...saying it's a great album doesn't do it justice.
