I was watching Oprah yesterday and a few things registered with me.

First, she had Brooke Burke on. Brooke was telling Oprah how she made a bucket list of things she wanted to have happen in her life. She's really been putting positive energy out and things on the list have been happening....one of which was to be on Oprah's show! Oprah is a big believer in this....the energy you put out will come back to you. So if you have positive energy, positive things will happen. And, of course, negative energy works the same way. I believe this, too. I also believe everything happens for a reason. You may not see the reason, but at some point it will become clear why things happen the way they do. I just had this happen to me a few weeks ago actually. It's a really long story, and frankly, a boring story, so I won't tell it, but a few years ago an ongoing process has had me upset, mad, hurt at work. It started to really take it's toll on me. Over the last year or so I've been able to just let it ride and it's not been getting to me as much, but it's still been a thorn. So 2 weeks ago I found out why all that happened....the reason it didn't happen. It turns out that the way things went down were for the best. At the time I could not imagine there would be a good reason for the way things were going. But the reason has come to light. And it took 2.5 years. So the answer isn't always just around the corner.

Then she had another guest. Paula Deen. Paula has quite a life story. She's achieved some major goals that I'm sure she didn't even dare dream years ago when she was struggling. Oprah asked her what she would tell someone who has a dream to be or do something. Paula's answer really got to me. She said: There is no sin in failure. The only sin is in not trying.

Wow.

I've heard that before, but for some reason hearing her say it yesterday really did something to me.

I need to think about what I want. Greg asked me what my dream is and I wasn't really able to pin down a good answer. So I'm working on that. Dreaming a dream for me.

Back when Jamie Oliver was on Food Network his shows always ended with a clip from this song. Loved it. The other day, I have no idea what made me think of it, I have not heard it in years since the show is no longer airing, but I wondered if the song was on iTunes. It is! I downloaded it and have been listening to it regularly. The girl has a sexy voice I think. I bet they had a great time together back when they were playing.

He (JO) is kinda...intense when he cooks. You know what I mean? But I've noticed this intensity in chefs from England. Maybe they just do it to be like him? No idea. That new kid on Food Network, Danny Boome, uh....no. I can't watch him. Annoying. But he has that same Jamie...."thing". If you don't know what I mean, I can't explain it.

Here's the song.

Shooting Star
Scarlet Division

In this world of mine
A million things run through my head
I Gotta take some time
To do the things I always set my heart on

Cuz I don't know where i've been
I got lost there somewhere
There's so much I haven't seen
Would you take me there?

No matter who you are
Won't you come into my world
Like a shooting star
Take this journey with me to the heart

Gonna reach that high
And turn this world right upside down
I'm gonna cross that sky
On a silver cloud but I can't tell which one

Cuz I don't know where i've been
I got lost there somewhere
There's so much I haven't seen
Would you take me there?

No matter who you are
Won't you come into my world
Like a shooting star
Take this journey with me to the heart
Can't you see that this is just the start?

Henry 1993 ~ 2010

"If there is a heaven, it's certain our animals are to be there. Their lives become so interwoven with our own, it would take more than an archangel to detangle them"

One Layer Card Challenge

Here's my card for Kristina Werner's One Layer Card Challenge. It's so fun to have another challenge from her :)

It's been quite a while since I've made a one layer card. With all the embellishments out there, my one layer cards always seem plain. However, I really like how this one turned out and I find it anything but plain. I used stamps from one set and two inks. The background in the corner is stamped in a very pale pink to fill in some of the white space. Then I stamped my design in red over that and added the sentiment. Stitching lines finished it off. I think I might make several and keep them on hand for when I need a thank you card. They take around 5 minutes to make!

Funny

This is funny to me. I'm not sure it will be to anyone else, but I thought I'd post it anyway. This is an online conversation I had this morning with one of the technical support people who answers the phones. Names have been changes to protect the innocent.

BTW, the "make" is a thing that runs and makes changes live.

Hey Babe, What's Your Sign?

I work with 2 people who I estimate were in the 25-30 age range back in early 70's. Well, I work with more than 2 people in that age range, but these 2 stand out in a special way. They have never lost their 70's swagger. It's hard to explain since none of you have ever seen them, but just think of Saturday Night Fever. These 2 had to have been rockin' the discos on a regular basis with the bell-bottom pants and saying "I can dig it" and drinking Tab. They don't exactly dress right out of the 70's now, but they both still have 70's hair. Not kidding. The guy looks like a member of the Bee Gees and the woman has Farrah hair. And she wears blue eye shadow. Remember those....uh....angel sleeve blouses? Wait....I'll Google....

Found one! Except it's a dress. But still what I was thinking.

This woman at work would have worn that to the discos. I bet she still has one some of her 70's clothes in her closet. And I can totally picture her driving a Datsun 240-Z. I bet it's parked in the parking garage! If they weren't married, they would be going out for fondue and tiling their apartment walls with mirrors together :)

Support Denim Day

National Wear Denim Day ~ April 21st

Denim Day has been internationally celebrated since 1999 in protest of an Italian High Court ruling that overturned a rape conviction because the victim was wearing tight jeans. Enraged by the verdict, women of the Italian Legislature protested the decision by wearing jeans to work. As news of the decision spread, so did the protest and Denim Day was born. Show your support and spread the word.

(Reuters) - Flight attendants owed up to nine months' wages by a grounded Spanish airline have posed nude for a calendar to draw attention to their plight, one of the cabin crew turned models said on Wednesday.

The calendar, numerous excerpts of which appeared in the Spanish media, shows the Air Comet attendants, all female, posing provocatively in and outside airline cabins, and in one case on top of a jet turbine.

"We are just demanding our rights to receive what is ours, we each have eight or nine months of unpaid salaries," attendant Adriana Ricardo, who appears in the calendar, told Reuters.

Air Comet, run by the embattled chairman of Spain's main employers' association CEOE, Gerardo Ferran, filed for administration in December after a British court impounded nine of its aircraft at the request of German bank HSH Nordbank.
