spring has sprung
It rained today and I was happy. Most people here get all crabby about rain....but I don't. If you look at it with the right attitude, rain can be a very beautiful thing. Anyway, there are so many flowers in bloom right now and it's a beautiful thing. The exciting thing was....I could not take a bad photo! And trust me, that is rarely the case. But everything looked great! I usually only upload one....maybe two photos, but today was a three photo upload! Enjoy!

I went to the dentist for my 6 month cleaning yesterday and got kudos for my excellent oral health care! However, I was stressed out during the entire cleaning. Over the last 2 weeks or so, I have been clinching my mouth shut so hard during my sleep that when I wake up in the morning I can feel the tension in my jaw (work has hit an all time high on stress). As a result of this, I've had some pain in my lower molars and I was sure I had cracked one of them. So when the hygienist asked how everything was feeling, I told her about it. She went right to my dentist to see if he had time to take a look at me when she was done and he did.....so I started getting all worked up over that. I *hate* seeing the dentist! I don't mind the cleanings, but seeing the dentist is never a fun experience. Never. There's the shot, the tools, the drill....ugh. So she's cleaning my teeth and I must have looked petrified because she commented on it. She finished and they just left me in her chair and he came in to check me out there. He's a reallllly nice man and a very good dentist and that makes it a lot easier for me, but I still am scared to death of having dental work done. They took x-rays since it wasn't clear what tooth was the problem. They didn't see a crack and the crown I have wasn't coming loose. So....nothing. Everything looked fine. He said I might need a mouth guard if I keep clinching at night because I will either end up cracking a tooth or grinding off the surface.
Now that I know I do not have any major issues, that is one less stress. He said to think about the guard and also see if the clinching stops. I am supposed to call him next month if things are not better for a fitting, which will be painless so I am not worried, I just hope things get better at work so I can relax and not break my teeth.

I'm watching a few new shows ~ Castle and Lie To Me. Castle is about a "who done it" author who gets involved in a murder investigation because a serial killer is murdering people just like the people in his books. They solve the case but thing leads to another and he pulls some strings and gets to tag along on other investigations. This, of course, does not sit well with the lead detective who just happens to be a good looking woman. It boils down to him tagging along and lots of sexual innuendo. So far it's entertaining enough and there is some good humor because the author is a bit of a goof. Lie To Me is much different. This guy owns an agency that assists in investigations where people are suspected of lying. The guy is an expert at reading facial expression and body language. It's pretty interesting and so far I really like this one.
So just a few shows to consider if you see them on. I'm on the verge of dumping Terminator because it has really become kinda boring. The first season was awesome and I was really hooked, but now.....*shrugs*. We'll see.
That's all for now, folks!

Odds & Ends
I was driving home the other night and as I turned down a street pretty close to home, the scent of a fire burning from a chimney came into the car. I was instantly transported back to about age 15, 16 or 17ish. It reminded me of December. I recall being outdoors a lot back then. It was cold, leaves were on the ground, everyone was getting ready for Christmas....and people had their fireplaces going. It was a simple time for me....I used to love that time of year. There was joy and the holidays brought excitement unlike any other time of the year. I remember the family christmases back then. Usually a turkey and we ate in the "front room" and used the good dishes. We drank from highball style glasses with green and gold greek designs on them. The house smelled like christmas. I have never been able to figure out what the smell was....maybe scented candles my Mom always used or a home home fragrance she got from Avon....but it only smelled like that at christmas. I remember one christmas standing in the kitchen with my sister Nanci and the christmas carol "it's the most wonderful time of the year" came on and I turned to her and said "it really is the most wonderful time of the year!". I remember that moment so clearly. I was really happy. I long for those kind of holidays again. But we can't go back and it's a mistake to try to recreate moments because they will never live up to what you hope they will be. But at least I can still go there in my mind....and that's good enough.

Etsy
I am becoming addicted to Etsy.com. There is sooooo much cool stuff on there. I really like the idea of supporting crafty people who don't have any other way of getting their stuff out to the public. If you don't know what Etsy is, you can read about it here.
I recently got a pair of beads to make a pair of libra earrings. See them Here. I saw these and liked them, but I wasn't sure about the brass in my ears. Then I saw just the beads and they were only $3.50! So I am going to buy gold earwires this weekend and make them just the way I want them.
I also got a custom rubber stamp made. See it here. For those of you who get my cards, you'll notice the giraffe is a spot on match to the one I usually use. The woman who made it for me did an outstanding job....and it was only $12 bucks!! See her here.
I think my next purchase might be from PhylPhil. I love all of her stuff. I espically like her Fleur DiVine & Noir Fleur DiVine Scarves. Her baby spring scarf is pretty, too! All her stuff is. I was thinking it would be pretty nice to have a pair of those fingerless gloves when my hands are cold and I have to type.....I like the blue ones.
Greg says I should make cards from my photos and also stamped cards and sell them on Etsy. I have been considering it for about a year. Etsy is getting more and more popular so it could be a good opportunity. I am getting closer and closer to just going for it. Maybe you will see my shop on Etsy soon!

This song is sad ~ but it's brilliant. We all have some kind of experience that this song touches inside us. Maybe it's our own experience or maybe it's a family member or friend who was/is in a situation.
We go back when we know we're better off leaving something/someone behind. And I love the word shattered....so often people are "shattered" in some way by the time they leave something that they have given too much time to. Take a listen. In my opinion, you really have to listen to the song and read the lyrics to get it all.
Shattered ~ O.A.R.
In a way, I need a change
From this burnout scene
Another time, another town
Another everything
But it's always back to you
Stumble out, in the night
From the pouring rain
Made the block, sat and thought
There's more I need
It's always back to you
But I'm good without ya
Yeah, I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah
How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I'm shattered
I always turn the car around
I had no idea that the night
Would take so damn long
Took it out, on the street
While the rain still falls
Push me back to you
But I'm good without ya
Yeah, I'm good without you
Yeah, yeah, yeah
How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Give me a break let me make my own pattern
All that it takes is some time but I'm shattered
I always turn the car around
Give it up, give it up, baby
Give it up, give it up, now
Now
How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
All that I feel is the realness I'm faking
Taking my time but it's time that I'm wasting
Always turn the car around
How many times can I break till I shatter?
Over the line can't define what I'm after
I always turn the car around
Don't wanna turn that car around
I gotta turn this thing around
